I'm a strange fellow of broad interests. I'm a set of paradoxes. I'm an introvert who blogs, a scientist into engineering, a madman who looks sane. I'm Jung type INTJ

I remember 2 APODs from this same area: the Alborz mountain range near the Caspian sea. This image was taken close to it's tallest peak, Mt. Davamand in Northern Iran.
Milky Way panoramas like this are timeless indeed.

Though this interview is in 2008, it can very well serve as a time capsule: most importantly because it's Donald Knuth. Stimulating read on what the man has to say about Open Source, the 'menace' of reusable code and many such things. A must-read for the geek kind.

Colliding galaxies are fun to look at! The page tells me that the Milky Way is set to collide with Andromeda in another 3 billion years (details here) - if only I could have a look at that :-D

This APOD has a twist, that it's a video. Watching a number of flights over the airspace of the US - almost like watching monochrome psychedelic fireworks (if you get what I mean)...

I love the simplicity of Cindy's blog. Most of her reviews are short, but deep one-liners.
Life's to be lived so, I guess :-)

Cygnus looks so nice in H-alpha and background stars removed. I wonder how many other prominent constellations would look with similar image processing...

Interesting links to stories and studies on EFT: once again, from Michelle Leuschen's page.

Alternative medicine seems to be growing ever-so-popular by the day, with the amount of stress in our daily lives shooting up exponentially.

One rather new and interesting such technique I have come across (especially from the internet) of late, is EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique. Based on the meridian system, EFT is a very effective and easy-to-learn technique, to help handle (especially) many of your daily mental (and physical, emotional) stress problems. I have seen it in action, and I'm quite amazed at how simple and effective it is. Although I'm pretty much only a learner myself, I really think it will make quite a constructive change...

This web page by Michelle Leuschen, has a nice instructional video, and lots of interesting links. It is quite a read, and personally, I think that the workshops and the referral program are quite the real deal (with some geographical limitations, which I guess, will be gone once enough people notice the program), once you see for yourself how well EFT works.

The page even comes with a clear note of caution (which is not in fine print): how much more fair can you get?

Thanks to Caegan for the link.

Apparently, SU are going to plant a tree for a every thumbs-up this page receives; and for some reason, I am not skeptical (because initially, it reminded me of those old email forwards that say: X foundation will be paid a penny every time you forward this email).
But then, there is no way something of this scale here can be a scam. Way to go SU! I think I will slightly modify the logo to make the green part look like a tree canopy :-)

Green Thumbs Up!

SU got some time off today for some well-needed maintenance. And while it was down, this is the image they had in place of any of the pages.

I would so like to take a print of this image and put it up on my wall, for the times I'm sitting at my computers (mostly on the internet) for hours at a stretch :-)
